Flat Press Operations  
FLAT PRESS OPERATIONS

The flat press area prepares veneer faces for further pressing operations. "Face" is the outside ply. This can be 1, 2, or 3 plys depending on the complexity of curves. When veneer is received in, it is first sorted for " A grade" face quality pieces. Pieces with splits or imperfections are downgraded... learn more.

We have two pressing operations at Davidson, which in turn use one of two curing processes: Radio frequency (RF), Induction heating (IH). Both of these methods allow veneer to be formed into compound curves, straight radii and flat plywood...learn more.

  • Auto Boring - Multiple holes from various angles can be drilled at one time.
  • Pin Router - The pin router is capable of machining the interior of a given component, not limited to the perimeter as is the rotary shape
  • Rotary Shaping - The most efficient method for removing a large amount of material quickly.
  • Slicer - Developed for cutting multiple parts from a curved plywood blank of exposed grade side frame or arm components.
  • Spindle Carver - Allows the operator to round over or break the perimeter of a curved and shaped component.
  • T-nut insertion - Fastener in the assembly of seating using curved plywood components.
